Temporary Accountant / Staff or Senior (4-Month Assignment)

Sacramento, CA (Near Highway 50) $35 - $40/hour DOE

Ledgent, a Roth Staffing Company, is partnering with a respected Sacramento-area organization to identify a Temporary Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant for a maternity leave coverage assignment expected to last approximately four months.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and contributing wherever needed. The hiring team is open to considering either a strong Staff Accountant seeking a challenging assignment or a Senior Accountant who is comfortable performing both staff and senior-level accounting functions.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and Controller, this individual will support day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring timely and accurate completion of month-end activities. The selected candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and providing additional support on special projects throughout the assignment.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare and complete bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
• Download, organize, and maintain banking transactions and supporting documentation
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation tracking
• Process and review accounts payable transactions
• Review, reconcile, and process employee expense reports
• Prepare, book, and support month-end journal entries
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting processes
• Support accounting operations and internal controls initiatives
• Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special project support for the Accounting Manager and Controller
• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting-related issues and improve processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience for Staff Accountant consideration
• 5+ years of accounting experience for Senior Accountant consideration
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures
• Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account analysis
• Fixed asset accounting experience preferred
• Accounts payable and expense reimbursement experience required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis functions
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

Compensation & Location

• Pay Rate: Up to $40/hour, depending on experience, education, and overall qualifications
• Assignment Length: Approximately 4 months
• Location: Sacramento, CA (near Highway 50)
• Schedule: Full-time, temporary assignment
